The gray tabby she-cat padded between the tall oak trees of ValeClan territory, following the scent of the medicine cat apprentice. Hiddenstorm and Sunstar had gotten into a fight with a fox, and discovered an area where a pregnant vixen no doubt lived. Sunstar had been hurt, and Tornnose had asked for Skypaw. So, here they were...Hiddenstorm and Ligtningclaw...looking for the medicine cat apprentice.
"She shouldn't be out here alone," Hiddenstorm mewed uneasily, glancing at Lightningclaw as she paused. "There had to have been four foxes living in that place. One has got to be a vixen with kits. No apprentice should be out alone...much less the medicine cat apprentice." She sighed uneasily, then sniffed the air again.
((sorry, suckish post))

((Hey, that's cool. Mine's not all to great either.)) "Especially the medicine cat apprentice," Lightningclaw agreed, scanning the area. Any scent of Skypaw was becoming more recent, but not the most recent there was. He swiped his paw over some grass carelessly, making a rustling sound, not exactly in the best of moods.
Where could Skypaw be, for crying out loud?
Really, where was the ability to see everything that was going on in your own Clan when you needed it?
"...but... a pregnant vixen? Ohh..."

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Hiddenstorm giggled at Lightningclaw's last words. "Yes, mousebrain," she purred, swatting him gently over the ear. "A pregnant vixen." She trotted forward, and her eye caught a spot where Skypaw had clearly been digging up some herbs. The earth seemed to have disturbed recently, so he couldn't be too far away. "Skypaw? Skypaw! Tornnose needs you!" she called, wondering if the apprentice was ignoring them, or if she simply didn't hear.
Horrible thoughts flashed through the she-cat's mind...thoughts that came from her mothering instincts. What if Skypaw was hurt? What if he had twisted his paw? Or....all kinds of scenarios rushed through her mind, and though she knew she was overreacting, she couldn't help but pick up the pace, anxious to find the young tom.[/blockquote]

Lightningclaw abruptly fell silent, feeling extremely nervous about the pregnant vixen. It didn't make the situation any better when Hiddenstorm swiped his ear. Bending his head down, he sniffed the ground. Skypaw wasn't far away now, or so he thought.
That, or Skypaw is flying through the territory like a cat crazy with catnip.
Quite frankly, he was becoming very annoyed with Skypaw. He knew he wasn't the medicine cat apprentice's mentor, but oh, if he was... he shook the thought from his mind, keeping up with his mate, who was padding faster now. He couldn't allow himself to reprimand the apprentice, as he wasn't the medicine cat, though he could sure wish he was for just this moment. His eyes searched for any sign of the light-furred pelt of the young apprentice, his ears ever so slowly bending back.

Skypaw
A small pile of herbs sat on the soft, grassy ground, sheltered from the slight breeze by a shrub. Standing in the center of the clearing stood a tiny apprentice, a few twigs and dust clinging to his sleek pelt. Ears pricked, Skypaw listened to the distant voices of his clanmates. Most cats wouldn't have been able to hear them, let alone distinguish what they were saying, from so far away, but Skypaw's senses were uncanny, making up for his size. Carefully drawing in their faint scents through his mouth, there was a mysterious odor, which had to be the fox's, as well as the sharp tang of blood. Sunstar's, no doubt. A few more heartbeats won't kill her.
Skypaw turned his attention away from the approaching pair. They were still far enough for him to practice it one more time before they appeared. Warrior skills--medicine cats were rarely taught any of them. But, his father had taught him some skills during the few moons he'd spent with his family before they died. And he intended on practicing in secret. All cats had to be well-rounded. The medicine cat apprentice crouched low, cold blue eyes focused on a thicket of rustling ferns.
He could hear the vole snuffling through the things that littered the ground. Keeping his claws sheathed, Skypaw slunk forward, ever so silent, until he was within leaping distance. He pounced, clamping both forepaws on top of the brown creature. Instead of killing it though, the young tom let it escape, watching it flee into the undergrowth. He would leave the prey-catching to the warrior apprentices.
Skypaw turned around and padded toward his herbs, picking up the bunch in his jaws before padding in the direction of the warriors. With expressionless eyes, he scanned the area as he walked, certain he was going in the right direction.

There he was! Hiddenstorm sprang forward and met Skypaw halfway, giving the young cat a halfhearted glare. "Where have you been? We've been looking all over for you. Sunstar is hurt and Tornnose needs you now." She wanted to scold the young cat for being out on his own, but there wasn't time for that, and how was was Skypaw supposed to know there was a whole group of foxes forming in the forest? The whole Clan would know pretty soon.
((Bah, awful post, sorry about that. You can just post again, Alias, because Cobalt is out of town and probably won't be able to post for awhile))

(Okey) Skypaw
Skypaw placed his bundle of herbs at his paws before looking up to reply. "Collecting herbs," he mewed curtly, not bothering to waste his breath on a greeting. The young tom barely ever dropped his cold, emotionless, and detached personality, even when around his own Clanmates. "I'm here now." With that, the pale-furred cat bent his head to pick them up once more. Skypaw flicked his ears pointedly, waiting for them to lead the way back even though he could find his way perfectly fine. But there was an obvious air of urgency, and he knew it would be best if they led.

Obviously, Hiddenstorm was annoyed with Skypaw's lack of interest. Was this emotionless cat supposed to be their full medicine cat one day? Shaking her head, she flicked her tail curtly for him to follow and bounded off at a fast pace. He better keep up, she thought, glancing behind her and mewing, "Come on, he's hurt pretty badly. The fox was not kind to us."
((Again, bad x.x let's just post back in the thread with Sunstar))

Skypaw
He could tell that the warrior was rather irked, but he calmly ignored it. Did they expect a fox to be merciful? From everything I've heard, they're bloodthirsty and savage. Skypaw set off after the she-cat, managing to keep the same pace even though he was much smaller. He'd always been undersized compared to most 6-moon old cats. It didn't hurt that the tom often sneaked out of camp to practice warrior techniques that he'd learned from observation and from his deceased father.
