Sunstar, a cat of many contrasts. He is considered noble, yet wouldn't be caught dead helping another Clan. He didn't even think twice about chasing off a starving loner and her dying kits, yet he raised a loner kit as his own. Interesting is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this specimen.Picture: www.flickr.com/photos/idkt/2250635227/
Sunstar absolutely loathes stereotypes, especially when they are directed to his noble Clan. In fact he has devoted most of his life trying to clear his Clan of the name it has gained over time. Sunstar doesn't like that everyone believes ValeClan is weak and of impure blood, unable to keep their noses out of everyone elses business, always ready to swoop in and become heroes. It is for these reasons that Sunstar could be considered a manipulative, cruel, and aloof leader.
Sunstar has deeply conflicting traits because of this. To other Clans he tries to portray the total opposite of everything that is thought of ValeClan. He will not openly fling himself into every little problem of the other Clans, seeing as his Clan has its own issues to deal with. Sunstar is also less likely to allow loners into his Clan, it is never too late to purify the blood of his Clan.
One thing Sunstar will never cease to be however is loyal, mainly to his own Clan and kin though. It is for this reason, despite all his flaws, that make him quite the diplomat. He doesn't hold grudges and he knows that the enemies of today will eventually become the friends of tomorrow. No matter how messy things may get with Sunstar in charge he will make sure that it is fixable.
Though he appears hardened around those of other Clans, with his own Clan he is more open to socializing. In fact Sunstar is quite sociable and hates being left alone, friends are easier to make than enemies with this tom.. as long as you are ValeClan. Sunstar is prone to even thinking himself the 'father' of ValeClan, so its interests are always kept in mind. That is where his manipulativeness comes in, with his Clan's needs in mind, no matter what lengths he must go to, they will be met.
Sunstar can be considered a strict mentor, but he has to show that ValeClan compassion somewhere and this is where it ends up. He does take training seriously though, again the future of his Clan and family in mind. He may feel like a friend to apprentices, but in the end he will view himself in the same way he does as a leader, a father. Which means fatherly love and teaching are very important to him, it isn't odd at all for him to treat even his now warrior apprentices as though they are still his apprentices.
Sunstar can be very tempermental, it is very likely for this to lead him to blowing up. Whether that means he ends up yelling your ears off or skinning you is another matter altogether. In fact as a warrior he had started his fair share of border fights because of this, but his family and Clan tend to not have to deal with this dangerous side of him.
Short Description:
A tough mottled tabby, open to fits of anger, yet very fatherly.Appearance:
Sunstar is a gorgeous mottled tabby, his fur appears as though it was simply painted onto his body. He's mostly tabby with the classic black stripes running through gray-brown fur. What really got him the 'Sun' part of his name are the little flecks of ginger that get splashed onto his coat. These splashes of ginger are most noticeable where they circle around his eyes. A darker ginger also cuts across his muzzle in an oddly straight line, joined by two splotches on either side of his nose. To add even more to the painted effect of his fur around his nose area is a splotch of white, there are even a few tufts of white in other places as well.Lives Remaining: 8
Sunstar carries the gene of most ValeClan cats for having broad shoulders and a strength unmatched by any other Clan. He is however leaner than one might expect, all the better to show of his muscles under a thick yet short pelt. Large paws also run in his family, as do his long, black claws. He is quite the fighter when need be, willing to settle an issue with the use of tooth and claw. On the other side of things his long claws are quite useful in nabbing all sorts of prey, though Sunstar can never lay claim to a favorite area of warriorship.
Finally we are left with Sunstar's eyes. They aren't much to tell you the truth, actually they sort of dim his good looks with their muckiness. A dull green amber, murky beyond belief. They are definitely the tarnish to the flames that circle them. They do have some use however. Sunstar is known for his glare, though not as sharp looking as a brighter green would be, they at least capture the blunt anger that he often wants to express.
Sunstar is definitely not one thing, a follower. In fact he has been fighting his entire life to show that he is just as strong, if not stronger than the next ValeClanner. He is stubborn and won't bend to anothers will, this combined with his own pride mean that he is more likely to die from starvation that admit a prey shortage to another Clan. That also means that once he has made his mind up on an issue, no one but himself can change his opinion. In fact the only will that he has ever been known to bend to is StarClan's. He has always been a very big believer in his warrior ancestors, and there's is the only will that he will accept and not fight to change if he doesn't like it.
History:
Before Sunkit there were two cats that fell in love. Not unlike most stories of romance, both ValeClan meant to be with one another. Emberflash was a ginger tom, hotheaded and opinionated. Flowerheart was a tortoiseshell she-cat, gentle and nurturing, yet with her own set of opinions with a stubborness to match. Together they would meld their genes to create a cat born for greatness.Family:
Sunkit would never meet his father. Just a few sunrises before his birth Emberheart was killed by a sudden bout of blackcough. Flowerheart was still in mourning when her four kits were born. Sunkit was in fact the youngest of the litter. Warkit, Truthkit, and Howlkit all came before him, all toms too. He wasn't with them for long though. Around five moons the tension between ValeClan and a group of rogues finally blew.
The first attack came at night, the filthy, flea-bitten rogues slipping into the camp and heading into the dens of ValeClan. Flowerheart had been away on patrol when the attack came, Sunkit would later find out that his mother was one of the first casualties of the attack. As the camp erupted into battle, the Nursery was left virtually unguarded, an apprentice left due to the assumption that Flowerheart was guarding her kits. After the apprentice was knocked aside two rogues entered the den. All three of his brothers would end up being killed at the paws of the rogues.
So Sunkit was left, the outgoing and naturally friendly kit needing attention that he would never recieve. In fact the Nursery was completely empty, and all he was really able to do was bother a few apprentices. Supposedly this is why he ends up being so family orientated, even if his family is not really blood.
So greatly unnoticed Sunkit became Sunpaw and he headed off finally to a place that actually housed other cats. Sunpaw would be mentored by Wolfbite, a stern and difficult tom. Unused to the company of others and due to the teasng for being slightly socially awkward Sunpaw became aggressive and got into quite a few fights. His anger would often lead to him almost foaming at the mouth, quite a sight on such a cat. Hopefully he's grown out of that.
Sunpaw soon proved to be quite the apprentice, failure was not an option no matter what he did. He was more likely to bleed out than end a fight before it was finished in his favor. Already he was willing to give his life for the cause of his Clan, believing it to be one of the most divine things in the world.
Sunpaw was finally named Sundown after his third battle of his apprenticeship, mind you there were a few unmentionable border skirmishes that he may have caused. He was recognized for his Loyalty and Courage. Both as true as could be, he would always fight for the cause of his Clan and would not falter at the thought of laying his life down for his Loyalty.
Sundown soon rose above and beyond the call of duty for a young warrior. In fact it didn't take long for him to earn the respect of a Senior warrior. Battle while he was younger was his main focus, the perfect way for him to show the extent of his love for his Clan. He also continued to depend on having others around him to remain comfortable. It wasn't long until this dangerous cat received the honor of leading the battle patrols that he loved so much. He also recieved his first apprentice at this time, the tom being named a warrior not long after.
In fact his claim to fame was once and for all gaining control of a strip of forest on the edge of MireClan territory. It had long been disputed whom it belonged to, Sundown was just the warrior for the job. Coming back to the Clan victorious Sundown became known as the 'Hero of the Forest'. Not many usually mentioned that Sundown only got into the battle that won him this strip because of his temper.
It was for the things like this that recieved the battle-scarred hero his place as deputy. Fadingstar needed a strong new rising star when Iceclaw actually retired after just a few moons of being deputy. Sundown however was one of those cats that not all cats could like, some hated the decision and others couldn't be happier. Those that didn't like him being named deputy feared that his temper would be the end of the alliances of certain Clans that were hanging by a thread.
It was during this time that a build up of rogues and loners alike, along the edge of their border became an issue. Fadingstar even lost a life in an ambush from these ruffians. Loners would just sit on the border and multiply as the rogues loved to cause trouble. Sundown would be the one to lead a patrol into the heart of the infestation and start the extermination of these pests. The rogues would be driven out and attacked as to not forget whom owned this territory. The loners no matter their condition were ordered to leave. Sundown would watch uncaring as the sick and pregnant loners would march out of ValeClan territory. Fadingstar was in fact fading at this time, a bout of greencough had ended up striking him.
On his final sweep through the trouble area Sundown came across a small bundle of tortoiseshell fur mewling for attention. With this kit he found some pushing from StarClan to save, so carrying the small she-kit Sundown gave her to Hawkfeather to be raised. He would however see to her yongest lessons, and would later take her as his second apprentice. He named her Fadingkit after Fadingstar, knowing that both would be or had been great cats.
Finally greencough got the better of Fadingstar, bringing upon the time of Sunstar's leadership. Some weren't exactly sure how well he would be able to lead, but so far he hasn't steered the Clan wrong. How could he when it would kill him inside to do so? It was around this time that Sunstar named Fadingpaw his apprentice, making himself busy with training her and leading his Clan. Fadingflame now a young warrior does have to deal with a lot of bad feelings towards her. Favoritism had to become an issue of course, hopefully she'd be able to make them realize that she wasn't just Sunstar's protege.
Sunstar just recently lost his first life, in of course a battle. Surprisingly this had been his first during his leadership. His back right leg was torn up pretty badly and he had ended up loosing enough blood to knock him out and kill him. He now walks with a limp, but remains quite the competitor in a fight.

Dull amber eyes flickered open, his hackles raising almost involuntarily. A prescence that shouldn't be there was. How he had ended up awakening was unknown, all he knew was that something was terribly wrong. The dull eyes that he hated with a passion ended up being useful in this situation, unnoticeable in the darkness of the Nursery.Other:
Carefully Sunkit's gaze opened into slits, his brothers were snuggled up against him as they always were. Then the thing that had been wrong made itself visible, ghostly yellow eyes at the entrance of the Nursery. He was staring at something just above where the kits nestled, his tail barely flicking as though the cat was impatiently waiting.
Then a caterwaul awoke his brothers and the rest was a blur. His brother Howlkit had leaped up and yowled to the roof of the Nursery, as if everyone in the camp didn't already know that they had been invaded. He would be Truthkit with fire in his eyes was next to move, his small claws flashing out as he went to the defense of his brothers.
Truthkit was the first to fall, being knocked to the side by one heavy blow, his eyes would never fire again. The mangy stray that was moving forward slowly opened his mouth in what appeared to be some type of crooked grin. Sunkit growled, hissed, and spat. He fell silent however as Howlkit was knocked to the side as well, however he fell unconcious, his chest still moving however barely noticeable it was.
"I'm not going to hurt you too badly kittens," the rogue dangerously whispered, slinking forward and grabbing Warkit by the scruff.
Sunkit watched in secret horror as the life of his eldest brother was shaken out of him, so much in fact that he stood frozen to his spot in terror. One thought lay in his mind: I'm next. Dull amber eyes clouded slightly, ears and body shrinking away from the rogue in front of him. It was amazing how calmly the tom was actually moving, as though he was enjoying this.
Suddenly the thick vines that had previously meant safety were torn away as familiar cats swept into the den. An apprentice and a young warrior swept into the den. The apprentice rushed to Sunkit's side and grabbed him in her jaws, going next to the shallowly breathing Howlkit. Both he and his brother would make it, guilty relief fluttered in Sunkit's tiny chest. None of those feelings remained when he glanced back to see the lifeless forms of two of his brothers. Something else caught his eye, the young warrior had pummeled the rogue to the ground and was now furiously battering him until he let out a shriek, the warrior let him up, and he leaped out of one of the holes in the wall.
Sunkit's eyes remained on the young warrior, burning the image of his battle to save him into his mind. Little did this tiny kit know that only he would end up being saved. Howlkit would die the next morning leaving Sunkit the only remaining cat of his line. The things he saw that night would stay with him forever, whether they haunted or helped him was the real question.
Well not that any of you would really care, but I kind of mapped out Sun here from the 7th president of the United States, Andrew Jackson. I did so after I realized that the picture I got actually has a marking down his head that looks a lot like Jackson's scar from childhood. There goes me being a history nerd again. xP Sorry about the suckiness of the rp example, you can only have muse for so long into a bio. ><
