Hazelpaw drug his paws on the ground. He had been restricted to camp for it seemed moons now. It had been maybe three days since his disaster with Mothpaw. Now she was out hunting and he was stuck in camp. He looked around hoping to see Lightstep but she was nowhere to be seen. He hung his head more. Bored like no other he looked for something anything to do.
He decided he was slipping out of camp again. His mentor had been missing for days and no one had bothered to take over his training. At this rate he would never become a warrior. He'd just have to train himself. He padded out of camp on what may be his last adventure out of camp... He thought he heard paws approaching...

The past excursion she had undergone with Hazelpaw had ended rather poorly. Mothpaw had a small scar on her head to attest to that, and the memory of being stuck in a dark cave while warriors dug them out flashed through her mind frequently. So she was relaxing now. Relaxing for real, lying in the center of the camp with her chin resting on her forepaws, tail curled around herself, as she dozed but didn't truly sleep.
That is, until a familiar scent washed past her, and she opened her eyes and lifted her head to gaze after Hazelpaw. What was he doing? Hadn't he been told to stay in camp? But, then again, Hazelpaw never seemed to worry about breaking rules. For a brief moment, Mothpaw considered just goign back to sleep. Nothing against Hazelpaw--she liked being with the tom--but she was so tired....
"Hazelpaw?" she mewed quietly, leaping to her paws and padding after him. "Hazelpaw, you're going to get into trouble," she mewed as she caught up with him, glancing behind her uneasily.

Hazelpaw recognized Mothpaw and the familiar shame crept over him again. "correction. I'm ALREADY in trouble Mothpaw" He meowed. "And Lightstep has been gone. How am I ever going to become a warrior here?" He asked in desperation. All the stuff he had done he would probably never be given his warrior name.

Clouds were already rolling in, no doubt bringing with them another afternoon of rain. Nothing about the weather made Mothpaw want to leave camp, and she didn't want Hazelpaw to go alone, so.... "But you'll get into even more trouble if you leave. I bet Brackenfur would take you out with me sometime if you asked," she mewed, desperate to deter her friend from being rebellious today. She frowned, glancing behind her at the rest of the camp. "Don't go out. You're going to get into more trouble."

Hazelpaw fought with himself. Mothpaw was speaking truth but he was a young kit wasnt he supposed to always be getting in trouble. For once his newfound responsibility to the young apprentice was winning over his natural nature to rebel and go against the rules. Finally he sat up and turned around back to camp. "I guess I could go ask a cat to take over my mentoring.." He said bitterly.

Mothpaw was surprised but pleased when Hazelpaw agreed not to sneak out. And she was glad she hadn't had to bring up the last time they had sneaked out--she would have, but it might have made him upset. But he still didn't look very happy, and until Goldenstar appeared, they couldn't really do anything about getting him a warrior to take him out....
In her eagerness to cheer Hazelpaw up, Mothpaw's shyness floated away from her, and she dropped into a crouch, tail lashing so hard that it rocked her body. Narrowing her large, pale brown eyes, she let loose a little growl before striking a paw out and swatting at his head.

The swipe seemed to have snapped him out of his gloom if even for just a moment. He crouched down into his crouch threatening to jump on to the back of the apprentice but instead he lashed out his paw playfully to poke her in the stomach. "gotcha!" He mewled playfully

Mothpaw let loose a little squeal as Hazelpaw crouched, and she braced herself for him to come leaping at her...her eyes widened as, instead, his paw poked her in the chest, knocking her clean off her paws to land in a heap on her back. Giggling, Mothpaw rolled onto her stomach, spun around, and leaped at him as fast as she could, hoping to take him off guard and pin him down. "Not for long," she hissed with false ferocity.

"eeek!" Hazelpaw squealed as Mothpaw was on top of him nearly knocking the air out of him. He flopped onto his side attempting to roll over giggling. When he couldn't flip over he feigned defeat. "Alright, Alright! you've got me!" He said in a faux-exasperated voice.
