Petalnose padded into camp tiredly with two mice tails in her mouth as the mice dangled down and swayed from side to side as she walked. Trotting in cheerfully, Petalnose smiled at any of her clan mates that she happened to pass on her way to the fresh kill pile. Placing the mice down, Petalnose picked up a rather plump shrew and carried it across her camp to the elders den. She remembered that sometimes they tended not to eat quite enough, so this ought to satisfy any hunger they had left. She always wanted to make sure the elders were well fed and taken care of because the fear anyone else would pass soon plagued her somewhat strongly. Her kindness was usual so nobody took much notice – or at least they didn’t say anything – and Petalnose preferred it this way. Upon reaching the den, she found it relatively empty for the exception of one or two cats. She mewled a gentle greeting and placed the shrew down by the door. With a nod she retreated again and went to pick her own meal from the pile.
Padding over to the fresh kill pile once more, Petalnose surveyed it and chose a round little fish. Batting it off the top and picking it up between her teeth, Petalnose surveyed the camp looking for someone to possibly share it with or sit by. Seeing nobody notice her, she shrugged to herself and smiled. Padding over to the nursery, Petalnose chose a spot five feet away under a clump of ferns. She placed the fish on the ground and settled herself to eat. Lying down, she took it between her paws and began, not noticing anything going on in her surroundings.

Brackenfur having just arrived safely back at camp was suddenly hungry. What a day! they had gone for a pleasant swim and he had been pleasantly surprised by his apprentices maturity during the thunderstorm. After giving her first pick at the fresh kill pile he had went off to tell the deputy of his clan about the mudslide after she had assured him that the leader he had set off towards the fresh kill pile.
He had just grabbed a thrush and settled down near the apprentices den when he saw Petalnose enter camp with two mice. She bounded over to the fresh kill pile dropped her mice and watched in wonder as the cat grabbed a shrew and carried it off towards the elders den. For a second he was confused with what she was doing but suddenly he realized the cat was bringing the elders food. Surely the apprentices had already brought them food? But then again surely Petalnose already knew that.
Mostly out of curiosity when the cat came back out of the elders den and grabbed a fish settling down near the nursery he grabbed his thrush and padded over to the cat. He knew all the cats of the clan but he hadn't really taken the time to get to know Petalnose. Now was as good as a time as any right? He stopped right in front of the cat and set his thrush down again. "Hey, I'm Brackenfur" he mewed. You idiot of course she knows who you are. embarrassment rippled through his body.

Petalnose looked up at the sound of paws padding towards her and noticed Brackenfur, a tabby warrior, come to stand beside her. He spoke somewhat confidently though she saw slight regret on his face for saying something he thought was stupid. She mewled a small laugh and nodded. “I know who you are Brackenfur.” She replied with a smile. “Would you care to join me?”
Brackenfur was a kind tom and she knew that he was only trying to be polite in introducing himself but she couldn’t help not teasing him – if only lightly. Petalnose let her tail flick up and down while she took another bite and looked up at Brackenfur with her bright jade eyes filled with mischief.

Brackenfur looked down and grabbed his thrush up settling down next to the she-cat and taking a bite out of his thrush. He savored the taste of the ripe meat as he chewed and swallowed right before he took another bite he asked "How was hunting?" Brackenfur almost scolded himself immediately how much of a failure he had become at starting conversations. Why was he so nervous? No cat had gotten him to shut up before. This was quite odd that was for sure...
He looked up and saw Hazelpaw dragging moss to the elders den with the smell of mouse bile lingering around him in a cloud. The warrior couldnt help but chuckle to himself the apprentice had been caught out of clan borders it seems from all the camp gossip. Then he focused back on the she-cat and at once the nervousness was back. What was with this cat! It almost irritated him. But he shook his head it wasnt her fault at all if any cats fault it was his. He kept that in mind as he grabbed another bite of the thrush and waited for the pretty she-cat to respond. Wait did he just call her pretty? wow what was going on in the warriors head. [dice=6][rand=30082081877532985436531808950863969850706607724955188772093661853]

Petalnose smiled to herself as she saw conflicting emotions cross the young toms face. Taking another bite she ignored him for a bit the replied. “Oh, fine. Nothing really special except a few mudslides here and there.” She flicked her tail up and down again before looking up and smiling at Brackenfur. He looked quite disgruntled making Petalnose feel a little guilty for teasing him. She turned her flirty smile to one of sympathy and licked Brackenfur’s paw gently hoping to calm him.

Brackenfur had been thinking and he almost hadn't heard the cat reply. fortunately as she began to talk he quickly switched attention to the cat. " Those pesky mudslides are so annoying" He joked one and about scared him to death that afternoon. "I hope there arent many more where they came from" He commented more to himself. Suddenly the she-cat licked his paw. He looked at his paw for awhile before looking at the cat. "W-what was that for?" He asked absolutely confused. [/size]

“You seem nervous,” Petalnose purred. “Calm down. I won’t eat you.” She laughed. What Brackenfur said about the mudslides was true though. They were quite pesky and dangerous too, not only for the cats but for the prey and all other things in that part of their territory. Taking her gaze and turning it away from the tom, Petalnose took another careful bite out of her fish and chewed slowly wondering if the elders had eten enough even with her shrew.

"I'm not worried about that, no doubt you'd feed me to the elders tho." He teased her softly remembering why he had come over in the first place. "Did one of the apprentices neglect their duties?" He asked Namely..Hazelpaw he wasnt quite so nervous anymore and managed to take another bite and savor it without worry.

Petalnose smirked and flicked Brackenfur with her tail. “You know I would.” She laughed softly. Then listening as he asked about the apprentices, she nodded. “I suppose so. The rumor is that Lightstep’s apprentice disappeared causing Fernpool and her sister to go out and look for him. ” Petalnose replied taking another bite. She was almost finished with the well rounded fish and was just examining the bones at her paws. With somewhat of a disgusted face, she picked it up and decided to discard of it outside of the Cascade Clan camp.

"You wouldnt dare, I'm to darn tasty." He joked when she she-cat stood up he did also. "That is the word around camp, apprentices these days. Mine would never embarrass me like that for which i am thankful." He mewled and starclan he was thankful for that. It was apparent now that the cat meant to leave the camp. But brackenfur wasn't ready to be bored yet again so soon. "I'll accompany y-erm I mean would you mind if i came with you?" He said picking up his now finished mouse.

Flicking her tail back and forth, Petalnose studied the tom. He was cute and seemed slightly interested. She smirked. “Sure, no problem.” She replied and padded to the entrance. Before she began moving though, Petalnose was sure to flick Brackenfur on the nose with her tail. Laughing to herself, she continued on her way to the entrance. One she reached it, Petalnose tossed her fish in the grass nearby and padded back into the camp. She ignored Brackenfur while she did all this and then again as she sat back in the original spot to begin grooming herself.
"So," she asked between licks. "Have any of the she-cats in the clan caught your eye?"
Petalnose was laughing internally for she knew how flustered the tom would get at her question. But it was his fault for coming over to see her in the first place. It was well known that Petalnose liked to tease though it usually ended up with her getting into mild trouble.
