Trotting through the forest the bright colored tom sniffed for any sign of prey. He only caught faint scents of mice and rabbits. Nothing close by and anything that had passed by had long since left. Pushing forward through a patch of tall grasses, the bright rusty shaded tom sighed and stopped by a tree.
Yawning Hawkblaze had not gotten much sleep the night before. He kept having his usually nightmares, about his sister's death. He saw her so vividly in front of him most of the time. He didn't know what to do to get rid of her, to get her life off his back... Growling to himself he swiped at the tree and laid down beside it. Looking up to the sky through the tree's new lush green leaves.
He knew he had to be hunting right now, but his heart just wasn't into it at this moment. He was at a loss right now. Her death was really getting to him these days. Shaking his head he got up and started trudging forward again. He had to forget about that day, he had to keep going for his clan - despite his own feelings. He had to put them over himself, always. That was his one rule to life, to always put everyone else above himself, and it worked for the most part.
Padding through the forest he finally found a mouse feasting on a seed just beside an elm tree. He got into a crouch and began moving forward slowly, tip towing as he got nearer. He leapt preparing himself for the kill, ready to taste its delicious flesh in his mouth and bring back to his clan...
"Are you kidding me? A warrior like me, just landed on a hard earth catching nothing, as it squirmed out of my paws?" He shook his head confused, he almost had it to...
Hawkblaze grunted in disapproval of his hunting skills, he wasn;t a bad hunter, he just wasn't focusing, he guessed. Great the clan is going to suffer because of my mood...focus mouse brain! He scolded himself. Forgetting about his lost prey he padded along the edge of the stream just beyond the forest part of Valeclan territory.
Light green eyes surveyed the area and found no prey - again. Sighing Hawkblaze began slowly making his way down river, it was kind of hot to today so he figured maybe the prey would be flocking to the stream to drink. His eyes were keen and looking for any signs of food to feed his clan. The big tom went for a long while along that stream, but decided he wouldn't find anything near that stream.
Turning away from the water he padded inside the forest again. He felt most comfortable in the forest. Hawkblaze then scented rabbit. It hadn't by long ago so he followed it, his tail quivering in excitement, maybe now he'd catch the prey.
He caught a glimpse of the grey morsel sniffing around and hopping about a tree, unaware it was being stalked. Hawkblaze did not waste anytime and pounded forward ready to run after it if that was the case.
The rabbit gave a slight chase but Hawekblaze jumped on it from behind and snapped its neck. Hawkblaze purred at his catch. He'd been focusing this time and now he had something bring back to the clan. Hawkblaze padded toward a tree to sit under, rabbit in tow. He set down the grey rabbit and began washing himself. He had to keep focusing and forget about his own feelings - no matter what the cost to serve his clan to the best of his abilities.
