A silver tabby padded out into the grass, stopping to stare at the lake. She thought it was stupid how other cats loved it, what did they love? Did they love the calm water? No, it was stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. 'Ugh, I'm so bored.' her blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight, and if nobody knew her personality, they might think that she was pretty. Closing her eyes, Phoenixsong tasted the air. 'Duck..' she frowned, she didn't like duck, but she was bored. The silver tabby started stalking a large male duck, and waited until he stopped. Then, she pounced. He started moving and freaking out, but she got him and bit his neck, almost shredding it.
She started to nibble it, and frowned. "Ugh, should take this to the clan, I guess," she grabbed him, and started dragging him toward the area she came. Her ears flicked twice, and she dropped the duck. Turning around, she noticed another cat staring at her. Fur bristling, she spoke in a low voice. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

He was out hunting like she was. He was ready to bring prey back to camp, if he caught any that was. Crouching at the sight of a duck his muscles tightened before he gave a pounce onto the creature. Claws held, teeth sunk in, the raw irony taste of blood was in his mouth. Setting the duck down for a moment the tom took a swipe at his fur with his pink tongue. Picking the duck back up he headed through the grass, noticing another cat. Dropping the duck he too was carrying he noticed she was of Mireclan. The smell was easily identifiable, and unlike to most it didn't bother him really. Duskstar's burnt orange fur was easily noticed by the she-cat.
Hearing her voice his ears twitched lightly, his fur bristled lightly at her voice and his bright green eyes locked onto her. "Could ask you the same thing." He mewed swiftly not stumbling or faltering over any of his words. Confidence was easy to come by as a leader. For some it was hard to keep it down to an acceptable level, but for him it was easy. He had never been overly prideful or cocky. Maybe as a younger cat but in his recent moons no.

Phoenixsong's ears twitched, "What does it look like, Duskstar?" she rolled her eyes, and looked over at the duck he had caught. "Seems you were, too" her blue gaze slowly found its way back to his green one, and she smiled. Oh, how fun it would be to taste his blood, but, we don't want our clans in battle, right? Maybe, if he was ValeClan's leader. She padded closer to him, pausing when her right foot was a tail length away from his. Would she make company of the leader? Or an enemy? It doesn't matter, to be honest.. but what if she was to gain his trust?
Straightening up, she put her best smile on, and nodded to him. "Terribly sorry about my behavior, Duskstar," she told him, her voice not like the normal rough one, but softer, and kinder. The she-cat was feeling terribly uncomfortable to be talking like that, but she was used to it. After all, if she was going to become ruler one day, she would have to deceive, no?

His ears moved the tiniest fraction of an inch as she spoke. There was tension, but there was tension between cats of his own clan. A cat from one clan faced with one of a different would mean even more tension presented to the two. His eyes questioned her every move, but then again what wasn't to be questioned in the tom's mind. Her dance closer made him take a step to the left, moving him closer to the she-cat as well. Oh what was her name. He had seen her before. At a gathering, once or twice before actually. Thinking back through the list of names within his encased skull he landed on the right one. Phoenixsong. The pretty she-cat with the blue eyes.
"Oh you're fooling no one Phoenixsong. Mireclan cats are almost all the same." His voice low, thrumming in the back of his throat. His green eyes flashed for a second. Perhaps amused, perhaps intrigued by the game the she-cat played, by the dance she had chosen to perform. Duskstar was eagerly playing along. Excitement with another clan rarely happened these days. He might be pushing his luck with this she-cat, getting close to one from another clan, let alone the opposite sex, was a deadly dance that rarely ended well.

Phoenixsong laughed out loud, "Thank StarClan then, I won't have to do that anymore!" she purred, amused now. Who knew a cat, let alone from another clan, could do that? Certainly not any cat in MireClan. But she remembered how he said that MireClan cats are all the same, and thought of the deputy. She was a kind cat. "Brokenrose is nice, but I find it utterly disgusting," she snorted, curling her teeth at the thought. Ha! Who would want to be nice to other clans?
She decided to try and make the tom her friend, an ally from another clan may prove useful one day. "Sorry for that," she told him, referring to the rude introduction. It was how she was, how she acted. Not her fault. Their fault, for talking to her.Though she'd never admit that, not one chance.

Duskstar gave a laugh that rolled like thunder, only down-scaled to the earthly level that he was on. He was fairly familiar with all the clans, although Mireclan was easier to guess than the others. Valeclan and Cascadeclan were practically blocked in his mind. It was hard to figure out what the cats of those clans might be up to. Though Mireclan seemed to be the type that one could figure out by meeting on the cats, something he had done many a times. "Brokenrose is one of the few that was subjected to the other part of your clan when I said almost." He gave a half-hearted laugh.
Hearing the next phrase of words that came from the she-cat's mouth drew another laugh from within the tom. "It's only expected. " He wasn't one to talk much, but he wasn't one to leave another carrying on a conversation with themself.

Phoenixsong snorted, "Yeah, I guess," she'd agree with him, but her feelings for the deputy were different. Though, the deputy MUST love freakin' everybody, right? Because she's a ray of sunshine. Ugh, aren't cats like that the worst? "So.. uhh.. wanna do something?" she asked awkwardly, not really sure on what she was doing. Did she wanna talk? No. Then why did she ask it? 'I'm going nuts'

His eyes giving a slight roll at the fact of her snort towards the comment he had made almost gave him a hint of she-cat. But the tom was anything besides a she-cat. He'd vouch for that himself. He hadn't really had a chance to converse with Brokenrose, the deputy of Mireclan, maybe it was best he didn't. So.. uhh.. wanna do something? The question caught him off guard and his eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you planning on trying to attempt a murder here Phoenixsong? Mireclan cats don't just randomly ask another cat to do something." Though his voice was questioning his eyes were playful and he laughed slightly. His reply back shocked him a little more than her words had... "What do you have in mind?"

Phoenixsong rolled her eyes, "Mousebrain, I don't want an entire clan on my tail for revenge, besides, I'm not a murdered" she spat, annoyed at the suggestion. Was she a murdered? No. A rude cat? Maybe. She watched his eyes narrow, and gave a 'mrr' in amusement. Oh, nice. She saw the playfulness in his eyes, and smiled. "Hunt? I don't know. We could talk, but we already are"

Hearing her semi-insult he laughed slightly followed with a light purr of interest. He had to tease the she-cat one way or another. Mireclan cats always had piqued the interest of the tom in the oddest way. They drew his attention away from the distraction of his own clan. What he would give to be inside the camp and just watch for a day. That would fulfill the need and want of Mireclan cats he had. "Hunt. We do have two ducks already, but more would not harm anything..." he let the idea slosh around in his mind. Come to think of it, hunting more wouldn't hurt at all. "There's not much to do between two cats of another clan. But there's no need to hold hostility with another." He purred softly his eyes watching her with curiosity. Phoenixsong was holding his attention, something most cats couldn't accomplish.

Phoenissong nodded, surprisingly enough this was one cat that she didn't want to claw their ears off, or hurt. Especially odd because he was from another clan, huh. The silver tabby opened her jaws, and tasted the air. She scented something, ducks, mostly. But that was no fun... she wanted to find the swan, but it was hiding. So, sighing, she went to get another duck.
She noticed a small female this time, and smiled. Least this time wouldn't be so hard. She crept closer, keeping her fur close to the ground, she stalked the bird until she was alone, then pounced, ripping many feathers out. She killed it with a swift bite to the neck. Padding over to Duskstar, she smiled. "Your turn,"

Duskstar smirked lightly as he followed her quite closely, though he didn't interrupt her and he held a maintainable distance from the pretty she-cat. Pheonixsong was a beautiful she-cat, and easy to get along with. Oh who was he kidding. She was from Mireclan. Mireclan was not his clan, oh but how he wished it was. You mousebrained fool, stay away you know better. He knew his conscious was right. But did his conscious really rule over his heart. After all it was just an annoying voice in the back of his mind. It wasn't part of anything or even an important organ. It wasn't even living. "Nice." He mewed giving a smile as he was invited to take the spotlight.
Duck, duck...goose? Ah there was the animal. It was quite large and hard to take down but nothing terrible compared to the swans that occasionally landed her. Two could possibly take it down, but was that even necessary? Giving a leap towards the black and brown bird he was satisfied with himself as the animal was taken down. Goose and duck to drag back to camp, oh how horrid. Two trips. There settled. Dragging the animal back he looked at Phoenixsong as the sun caught her just right. It was inspiring, captivating and his gaze softened.

The silver tabby noted how he stared at her, and how his green eyes sparkled, but, oh who was she trying to fool? Herself? Perhaps... she watched him hunt, bringing the large bird down without a struggle, and found new respect for him. 'So, he's strong, hmm...' she thought, watching him through slightly narrowed eyes. She also noted how they'd have to take at least two drips, for these birds were not small animals. Sighing, she looked down at the ducks she had caught, how one already had teeth marks on it. 'Foxdung!' she thought, clawing at it, trying to get rid of it. She didn't need any cat accusing her of being selfish.
As he looked at her again, she paused, and looked down at herself, suddenly self conscious. What was he looking at? Was there something on her? Burrs, mud, perhaps? She licked her fur, and then looked up at him. "What? Why are you staring at me? Is something on my fur?"

The tom laughed lightly as he watched her actions and heard her words. How would he be able to explain this without sounding completely mouse-brained and idiotic. Such a stupid tom cat he was. Especially being a leader and now falling for one she-cat that was out of reach. Perhaps he should turn back to his old...no that was not possible. There was no way he could turn back from this now. He was in deep, and stuck for good. Thank you Starclan. The sarcasm was practically taking over his mind as he snapped back into reality. Phoenixsong had spoken.
Tearing his gaze from her he looked to the sun. "You're nothing. I mean, there's nothing wrong with you. Not that I'm implying there ever was..." Duskstar felt at a loss of words. Taking a breath he smiled and gave a laugh. "What I'm trying to say is you look quite beautiful if I might say." There words said, he was done.

Phoenixsong stared at the clan leader, astonished. 'Did he just say beautiful... ??' she wondered. She didn't think she was beautiful at all, not like Shadowshine. She is pretty, not Phoenixsong. She had to be dreaming, right? "W..what?" she stuttered, oh so brilliantly. She mentally kicked herself for saying that, couldn't she accept a compliment, even once? Apparently not.
"Uhm.. thank you?" she said, awkwardly again. Dang it! Why was this tom making her do that? He was just like any other tom.. right? The silver tabby looked down at her paws, pondering the possibility's. Is he lying? I don't see a point to that, though...
