The moss was incredibly soft as Mothpaw curled into a ball, her body and mind exhausted from the events of the day. She had witnessed a thunderstorm outside the safety of the camp, and had seen an awful mudslide that could really hurt the Clan. She was tired. The roaring of the waterfall serenaded her ears like the most lovely lullaby, and Mothpaw closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of contentment. Maybe things weren't really okay with the Clan, and maybe they were in a bit of trouble this newleaf...but right now, everything felt okay. She was back in camp. Thank StarClan I can relax...
((o.O until Hazelpaw disturbs her peace and quiet...)

Hazelpaw had just entered the apprentice den. Anything to get away from his mentor. She was pretty miffed with him, no save that she was pretty darn pissed at him. for fear of more elder duties he had made the excuse of tiredness and retreated to the apprentices den. He wasn't tired at all that was for sure and as soon as he felt he wouldn't get caught he was sneaking out the back way of the apprentice den for some hunting around in the territory. He was planning on laying down in a den when he caught sight of another cat who seemed to be napping nearby. Perhaps she wanted to go have some fun to. Or perhaps not. He was going to leave her be when he saw her tail. It was flicking back and forth lazily the way a cat couldn't control when she was relaxed. Hazelpaw's kitten instincts took over and with his flank in the air he inched and launched himself at the tail clamping his paws over the tail and flipping over on his back to paw the tail in the air like a little kit does. Eyelids flickering the way they did when she was nearing the fuzzy land of dreams, Mothpaw released another contented sigh and relaxed completely onto one side, her tail-tip flicking slightly as she slept. She was hunting a mouse across solid rock...stalking, stalking....
"Eeek!" she yowled, springing straight into the air as she felt a pressure on her tail. Fur fluffed up, the gray she-cat spun around and stared at Hazelpaw in alarm, heartbeat thundering a thousand beats a minute, the blood roaring in her ears louder than the waterfall. Panting heavily, she flopped her butt down on the ground and stared at Hazelpaw breathlessly. "You scared me...." she mewed quietly, her natural shyness taking hold of her even as, in her mind, she was hissing at him angrily.

Hazelpaw giggled to himself as the cat launched itself in the air. "GOTCHA!" He shouted at the she-cat in a playful voice. "That's the price you pay. You cant flick your tail like that and not expect some cat to attack it. Plus i had to wake you up." He said nonchalantly as if that was a fact and sat down firmly on his butt facing the other apprentice with big unblinking eyes.

Confused, Mothpaw twisted around to look at her tail. It was lying perfectly still now...but as she stared at it, it started twitching in response to her irritation, and she turned back to Hazelpaw unhappily. "I was hunting a mouse," she complained, glancing back at her bed of moss sadly. "Why did you have to wake me up?"

Hazelpaw rolled his eyes. "you know how those dream mice are though...you never catch them They always slip away. right..between..your...claws" He said the last part slowly picking up his paw and showing her his claws. "And I had to wake you up so you would play with me." He said licking his paw and rubbing it over his ear really quick. "Besides whats a dream mouse compared to a real mouse?!"

Despite her tiredness, the mention of "real mice" made Mothpaw's ears perk up. It would be fun to go try and hunt something...or something. Still shy, she shuffled her paws, tail twitching uncertainly. Finally, she decided. She wanted to go out. "What...were you thinking about doing?" she asked, tilting her head to one side and finally looking at him.

Hazelpaw jumped up ready to leave the apprentice den now that he had a hunting buddy. "wellllll" He spread out the well to increase the drama. "I was thinking about sneaking out the back of the apprentice den and going to catch a mouse or two, real warrior stuff." He said flopping over onto his back again showing his stomach yet again his paws in the air he acted like he was playing catch with an invisible mouse. Looking at Mothpaw with a face that was like a tiny squeaky voice saying "play with me!" over and over again.

Sneaking out? Mothpaw narrowed her eyes, glancing towards the entrance of the den. What if they were found out? What if Brackenfur became angry with her? He can't be angry with you if you have freshkill... a tiny, mischievous voice mewled from the corner of her mind. This was Mothpaw's rebellious side...a very small, unpracticed side that didn't come out often. But...slowly, Hazelpaw's kittenish antics were coaxing it forward. Giving the entrance one more quick, uneasy glance, she jumped to her paws and, trying to ignore the fear of getting caught, lifted her tail eagerly. "Okay, let's go," she mewed, waiting for him to lead the way...Mothpaw had never snuck out before, so she didn't know where to go.

Hazelpaw jumped up to his paws again and turned to lead the way his tail lightly skimming across Mothpaws shoulder letting her know to follow him. He led her to the back corner where there was a small opening where they could squeeze through and they could leave the came without being seen. He slowly coaxed his way through the hole and then waited on the other side of the hole for Mothpaw to squeeze through.

Mothpaw's eyes widened as Hazelpaw seemed to simply disappear into the rock. Padding forward, she noticed a small crack. He wanted her to to crawl into that? Was he crazy? She glanced behind her, half hoping Brackenfur would come padding in and take her out to train. But he didn't. There was no sign of any warrior, for that matter. With a silent sigh, she slipped through the crack in the rock. She almost got stuck, but a bit of wriggling allowed her to slip through no worse for the wear.
And then...she was in the open air. The sky was still overcast, but it didn't look like it was about to rain...and a cool breeze ruffled her fur, bringing with it the scent of mouse...and rabbit...and bird...and the scent of the great outdoors. Mothpaw's ears pricked forward and her tail shot up in excitement. Sneaking out! How exhilarating! "Where we gonna go?" she mewed with a sudden burst of energy, padding around Hazelpaw impatiently. Hazelpaw had unbounded energy on his side. He pranced around waiting for the she-cat and when she finally squeezed through she almost bowled the cat over tagging her on the shoulder with his paw and then crouching down in a hunting pose with his flank high in the air wriggling it threateningly ready to pounce on the young apprentice in front of him.
"Wherever the scents lead us of course!" He said in a voice that was on the verge of mimicking his mentor and Brackenfur's words on their first day hunting where they had advised the apprentices to follow wherever the scents led
"What are you craving today Mothpaw is the question." He stood up and sat in front of the cat. He pointed in the separate directions of each scent with his tail as he named them. "Mouse?.....Fish?.....Or maybe Ravvits?" He asked cocking his head slightly to the left.

((I love Hazelpaw ^.^))
"Um..." she mewed uncertainly, sniffing the air and distinguishing the same three scents he had smelled. What was she in the mood for? Quiet stalking came with mice...water came with fish...and sprinting came with rabbits. I've had enough water for awhile, she decided. "Rabbits!" she mewed confidently. "Let's run some!" There weren't many rabbits in CascadeClan, and there were few flat, open fields, but rabbits seemed fun and...she wanted to run! "Let's go!" she mewed, bounding forward a few steps...until she realized she was going in the wrong direction. Correcting her course, she bounded in the direction of the rabbit-smell, leaving Hazelpaw to scamper after her.
((Sorry, not a very good post XP))

"Rabbits it is" He stood up and started to walk in teh direction of the rabbits when he noticed the apprentice going in the wrong direction. "Erm.." He started to correct the cat but the she-cat was way ahead of him correcting herself. Soon she was ahead. But not for long..
"Last one to the clearing is a rotten mouse." Hazelpaw yowled as he passed the young she-cat making sure to toss up some dust in her face. Hoping that was a challenge enough he paused for a mere second to see if Mothpaw was following him
((Where shall we take this thread? cause Hazelpaw isnt close to being done with Mothpaw))

((I'll start one in the regular territory i guess
Hazelpaw whipped past her, sending dust flying into Mothpaw's face. Mewling, she stopped for a moment, giving her paw a quick lick and running it over her face a few times to get the dirt off. The moment she could see again, the young apprentice sprang to her paws and raced after Hazelpaw, swatting him on the tail before dodging to the side and stretching her stride in an attempt to pass him. "Badgerface!" she mewed, exhilaration and adrenaline forcing her out of her shy shell and into her less practiced, rebellious side.
