((What a PERFECT thing to say ^.^ Bracken this is HILARIOUS. PERFECT. Just wait until you hear Scarredheart's past! It's like you can read my mind! What I'm saying here isn't all of it.))
"I wasn't clan-born. Sometimes its still a question with the clan cats whether or not to trust me."
Every single inch of Scarredheart's body froze. His heart almost stopped beating. Very slowly, his pale green eyes rose to meet Brackenfur's, and in his green eyes one could see the unending, fathomless depths of horror and heartbreak. This cat...is a younger me, he realized, and the realization brought him unending horror. Brackenfur did not want to end up like Scarredheart....It would destroy him.
"Be careful," Scarredheart hissed, springing to his paws in a wave of energy. His eyes were two orbs of green fire...fury was etched in every inch of him. He padded closer to the tom before him, glaring at Brackenfur in an attempt to see into the warrior's mind. "I was once of MireClan, but not clan-born. They never accepted me...only my mentor and my mate. Both are now dead. By no fault of mine." He stopped walking, though his paws itched to run. "Be careful. My life was completely screwed up by the Clan I once belonged to. CascadeClan is different then MireClan, I know that. But they are still a Clan. For the sake of the one you love, be cautious. Tread carefully. If you have to, take her away from the Clan. Take her away from any enemies. I didn't...and I lost her." He stopped, groaning, and sat back down. His green eyes closed, and the fire faded away...but the fathomless sorrow and heartache could still be seen, as always, in the depths of his eyes. A sorrow that never left. A sorrow that he never wanted Brackenfur to feel...even though he was only a stranger. [/size]

Brackenfur was surprised at the cats ferocity at what he said. Apparently he had touched a soft spot. He blinked in appreciation for what he said. "So you understand why I wouldn't even want to put her in that position. That's why I cant be with her." He said with decisions made in his tone he nodded his head to reassure himself.
"I wont ask what happened but I reassure you Cascadeclan is nothing like Mireclan. But if the situation ever made life unlivable for the cat I would gladly take her away." He said now to reassure the other cat. He wrapped his tail around his paws and stopped twitching anxiously.

Scarredheart sighed, feeling drained from his surge of emotions. He hadn't meant to get so personal...he'd been coming here to try and forget, not be blown over with a wave of memories. But he was here now, and...he wanted to help this unfortunate tom. Looking up slowly, he mewed, "Choosing to stay with Gingerleaf was the best decision of my life. Those moons with here were the only happy times I had. I wish I could have protected her...but I would never take back my decision. I loved her, she loved me, and..it would have been cruel for the two of us not to be together. Just...be careful." He wanted the tom to know that just because it was dangerous, didn't mean he had to say no. Scarredheart had never regretted loving Gingerleaf. She had never regretted loving him. The only thing he had regretted was not being there when she was killed....And it was not MireClan who had done that. It had been rogues from his past. "I hope to see her one day in StarClan," he sighed, raising his eyes to the clear blue sky. Were rogues supposed to believe in StarClan?Maybe not, but Scarredheart did. He always had.
Shaking himself out of his reverie, he stood back up and looked at Brackenfur with clear eyes. "Do you come out here often? I don't recall seeing you before, but I am usually not paying much attention to other cats." He wanted to get in a normal conversation...or was he boring the warrior? [/size]

Brackenfur listened to every last word the cat had said and it shook him. What if it turned out his past was a dangerous one... He had been found at the border covered in blood... He pushed past that though and thought of how happy he was she was alive. Then he heard the cat comment on not seeing him. "I come here sometimes, I have a lot of secret places and this isnt one of them." He commented looking to the ground a little bit. "I may come here more though the lake looks lovely. And who knows I could get a duck if i'm lucky."

"Ducks are good to hunt," Scarredheart agreed, glancing out over the lake at the few ducks swimming across the cool water. "I personally like swimming sometimes. It's very relaxing." He glanced at Brackenfur, wondering if the warrior would think he was crazy. Did Clan cats like water? MireClan had, but then they'd been stuck in water all the time, so it was either like water or leave the Clan. "Tried to hunt a swan once," he added, wincing at the memory. "I would advise against it. They are huge, fierce beasts, regardless of how pretty they seem." He sized the young warrior up, an odd thought forming in his head. "I bet two cats could catch one, though."

"I was actually swimming earlier this afternoon, Dastardly mudslides ruined my good day." He commented looking out longingly at the swans they look huge from where he sat. "They pack a mighty peck I bet. I'm down if you are" He thought after a little while of deliberation in his mind.

"Nearly took my tail off," Scarredheart sighed, standing up and stretching until his limbs quivered. "Never tried it with another cat before." He glanced over at Brackenfur, flexing his claws. "See that one on the far end of the lake? It's pretty close to the bank. One of us needs to scare it onto the ground. It probably won't fly away...they're too proud for that. You or me?" He didn't really care which of them did this part, although it was the most dangerous--shoulder-deep in water, facing a huge swan, a cat really could be hurt. But Scarredheart had tried this before, so maybe he should volunteer to go...he kept his mouth closed, wondering what Brackenfur would say.

Brackenfur thought of it for a second and then had made up his mind. "I'll scare it out of the water and you can take it while its really made" He thought was a clever decision seeing as he didn't want to be on the receiving end of that beak. "Shall I be off now?" He asked boldly stepping off the shore into the water.

"Good luck, kid," Scarredheart mewed before padding off along the edge of the water, toward the swam. He kept to the thick reeds, out of sight, until he came to the part of the lake where the swan was. The great white bird was swimming majestically across the clear surface, leaving little ripples behind. As Scarredheart watched, the long neck and head shot down into the water and came up with a small fish. The swan swallowed the fish in one gulp, then continued on its way.
It certainly was beautiful...moving with a smooth grace that left most cats in awe. But Scarredheart knew he dangerous beast hidden behind that gentle exterior. He knew, also, how very uncoordinated they were on land or while flying. They only looked so lovely while swimming. If Brackenfur could startled it from the water, it should not be too hard for the two of them to take it down.
And then what? Eat it? he wondered as he settled down to wait for Brackenfur's action. Let him take it back to his Clan? Perhaps. I just want to catch this swan. This was something he'd always wanted to do...so, great StarClan, he wasn't passing up this opportunity!

Brackenfur waded slowly through the water towards the massive white bird. Hmmm what was his strategy... just pop up out of nowhere? He was near the bird without much time. He slid underneath the water and popped up out of the water letting out a screech just near the bird. Attempting to strike out at the birds flank.
[dice=6] awesome!
The bird was startled and started running towards the shore as fast as it could. Brackenfur tried his best to keep up. Soon they were both on the shore and he ran after it driving it towards the other cat hoping they'd have it down before it realized Brackenfur was the only think chasing it.

There. A head popped out of the water, and Brackenfur's screech reached Scarredheart's ears and made him shiver slightly. Holy crap, he thought, springing to his paws as the massive white bird came storming towards him. Rearing up onto his hind paws, he set his own large bulk and leaped towards the bird.
[dice=6] yes!
The swan came to a startled stop as the large tomcat sprang out at it, and Scarredheart buried his claws into the bird's large white chest, pulling it down over top of him and yowling, "Go, Brackenfur!" His muscles strained as the huge bird twisted and turned, and Scarredheart's eyes widened as the long neck twisted around, reared back, and came shooting towards his face. If Brackenfur didn't act soon, Scarredheart would have to release the bird or would be pecked on the forehead. [rand=2697070977351385795230141743327982413003468125218861210774942401]

[dice=6]awesome!
Brackenfur leapt on the bird from that back and clawed his way up to the neck. The bird had such a long neck where was the vein! He began to panic but slid his teeth into the neck and bit down hard til he heard the tell-tale sound of a neck cracking. The bird started to struggle less and less...[rand=17673657569385437077077549858612155440196254230417461499357286895]

Way to go, kid, Scarredheart thought, springing away from the swan and watching it struggle in Brackenfur's fangs. It was all over, but just in case...
[dice=6] Dude, what luck!
Scarredheart bounded forward and latched his own fangs into the bird's neck, a bit further down than Brackenfur's were. With their combined attack, the swan soon gave up its struggles and slipped into the abyss of death. Panting, Scarredheart, released his grip and padded backwards to survey their handiwork. The swan was large, not the largest he'd ever seen, but still impressively massive. It's previously white feathers were soaked in blood, and as he glanced down at himself and over at Brackenfur, he realized they, too, were caked in the big bird's blood. But so what! They'd caught a swan!
"Nice going!" he mewed happily, padding forward to touch Brackenfur on the nose with his...an action that was normally done between cats of the same Clan, not two virtual strangers. Disturbed by his own action, Scarredheart turned and waded into the cool lake water to wash the blood from his fur.
((Bleck, sorry))

Brackenfur almost was giddy with the fact that swan hadn't taken him out. He touched the strangers shoulder with his paw. "We did it man!" He praised leaping into the water to wash the blood off. When he got out of the water he shook off the water and looked to the bird. That would be a good eatin. "D'you wanna eat it now or save it for later?" He asked questioningly

"I'm just one cat," Scarredheart mewed, eying the big swan with amazement. "But I am a bit hungry. Let's eat a bit now, and you can take the rest back to your Clan." A soft rumble stirred Scarredheart's stomach, and he wondered what swan tasted like. Better taste good, what with how dang hard it is to catch the thing, he thought, tail lashing eagerly. He waited, however, for Brackenfur to start--though it had been a long time since he was a part of MireClan, Scarredheart hadn't forgotten how the Clans shared freshkill.
