Dewpaw smiled, and climbed onto the rock, positioning herself. This was going to be fun, she loved to do things like this! Her paws firmly placed on the rock, Dewpaw reaied her back legs. Suddenly she lept, her back legs lifting her into the air. She did just as her mentor had instructed, and she sprang forward, her paws outstretched.
She repeated this nine more times, each time, leaping higher. Bye the time Dewpaw was done, her heart was pounding and she was exhausted. "That... was fun, Dewpaw said panting, but it was tiring too..." Slowly she turned and padded torwards her mentor, and sat down, trying to catch her breath.

Hiddenstorm watched as her apprentice leaped, smiling as the young cat seemed to get a bit higher each time she tried. Finally, exhausted, Dewpaw sat down beside her, and Hiddenstorm gave her a swift lick on the forehead. "I know it's tiring, but it really will help. Take a little rest, and then I want you to do it ten more times. This time, you start from the ground and leap up to the rock. Ten times. But wait until you are ready. I want every jump to be higher than the last."

"Okay." Dewpaw answered, still trying to catch her breath. This was tiring, but it was part of her training, which would help her become a better hunter. After her breathing eased, and her energy returned, Dewpaw stood. Smiling at Hiddenstorm, she padded back over to the rock. "Watch me go even higher than before!" Dewpaw meowed enthusiastically. "Those birds won't have a chance!"
Once again Dewpaw readied her back legs, determined to leap as high as she could go. Her back legs lifted her into the air, and onto the rock. Dewpaw did this technique over and over, leaping higher with each try. Her paws outstretched, she felt as if she really were hunting birds. After the tenth time, Dewpaw landed onto the rock, and sat down, her tail curled around her. She really was tired now, but at least she had gotten through it.
