Almondtail was about to fall asleep, when Duskstar entered the warriors den. It took all of Almondtails will to hold himself back from lashing out at the pathetic cat the clan called a leader. Almondtail listened without speaking to his words, not that he cared, not until the last sentence. He could deal with being an apprentice, it didn't matter, he could reearn his warrior name when Duskstar was murdered nine times. He was not, however, going to work with Ivorymask. The tom cat just aggrivated him to no end with her 'know it all' attitude. Cocky and arrogant was not Almondtail's style. Juniperpaw was an alright cat, she was smart, unlike her mousebrained mentor. Thankfully Ivorymask hadn't taught her to be a horrible cat.
"Alright your majesty. I will do whatever you want, because it makes you happy, and you are all that matters."
Almondtail smiled, and walked passed him, to the apprentice's den. He layed down, and thought that the last statement he had meowed was the best sarcasm he had ever used. Almondtail hoped so badly that his not fighting would make Duskstar angry, he wanted Duskstar to make an obvious mistake that he could call out later in his favor. He hoped that it would happen soon, because if it kept going this way, Almondtail was going to challenge Duskstar.
--------------------------------------------------
Juniperpaw looked at her mentor as he spoke. She understood what he ment, ValeClan probably wouldn't be to happy about it, in an ideal world maybe, but it wasn't ideal, it never was. There should still be some way to settle this peacefully, without starvation. Juniperpaw thought about it for a few minutes in silence. She couldn't think of anything to guarentee no fights, but there were ways to have less conflict anyway.
"Couldn't we send a messenger to ask them? If they say no, then we could set up an ambush on them. We don't have to have a flat out battle, thats mousebrained."
Juniperpaw was so deep in thought, that she hadn't noticed where Duskstar went, she looked around, and couldn't find him, that was odd. He wouldn't leave in the middle of a meeting would he? Just before she was about to ask, she spotted him talking to Almondtail. Then Almondtail stood up, and walked to the apprentices den. That didn't make sense, was that supposed to be an insult to Duskstar in some way that she wouldn't understand without hearing the converstion? Or, did Duskstar demote him? He wouldn't do that, would he?

Ooc: Sooooo sorry guys. I've been busy. My family has been dragging me around, leaving me no room for computer. Swimming this morning, town yesterday....GAH.
Bic: It was at that moment that a brown tom looked up from the side of the clearing. He had stayed silent, knowing not to get in the way. Oh yes, he had intended to give his opinion; he knew the flooding was worse than usual. They wouldn't just lose cats to hunger; they'd be lost to the rushing waters as well. As the fight grew more intense, and Duskstar himself was insulted, the tom narrowed his eyes. But, however, before he could do anything, the clan meeting had broken up. Ottersplash sighed, lifting his frame up as he padded towards his leader. He was of two minds. The gain of Pinestrip would be invaluable to them, yet it might mean the cost of lives as well. A small amount of prey for the life of a warrior. The deputy flinched. Neither thing seemed like a good idea. Without stealing the land, they would starve. Yet, if they didn't starve, they would lose warriors. By the time the brown tom cat had reached his leader, his green gaze was troubled. "Duskstar," He began, dipping his head, "I've noticed that the flooding is worse this year. And, though many despise the idea, I think we should try and take the land. If we don't, we'll all starve." You could already see the effects of the limited prey on the clan; Ottersplash's rich chocolate fur had already lost some of it's luster.

Stalking past Ivorymask Duskstar stopped short. "Ivorymask, since you and Almondtail seem to get along so well, perhaps you'll like taking care of Almondpaw. Make him useful for once." The leader had been put in a terrible mood by the uprising that the one tom had caused. Though Sorrowheart had been no help. Hearing his name the tom turned quickly. "What?" His voice was a growl though his eyes softened lightly as he saw his deputy Ottersplash. "Sorry. Almondtail, or Almondpaw I should say." The comment was almost a whisper as he listened to the words of his deputy. The flooding was getting worse, and he knew that as much as his deputy did. But the clan was willing to lose cats to hunger instead of to battle. However he couldn't help but catch the words of Juniperpaw. Turning to the she-cat he smiled softly. "Maybe a young mind should lead this clan." His voice was soft and praising and his eyes sparkled lightly. Making his way to the rock he stood on he let his voice ring loudly. "A decision has been made despite the problems we may have faced. Juniperpaw has mentioned sending a messenger. It is neutral. Juniperpaw I wish for you to go, though you will not go alone. Whom do you wish to take with you?" The tom looked down at the apprentice still smiling.

Juniperpaw was looking at her mentor for an answer to her previous statement, when she heard Duskstar mew to her, she turned to look at him immediately, and caught his words. It was a priviledge to get such a high praise from him, and she was very proud of herself, though she didn't let it show through. Juniperpaw hardly ever showed emotion. However, if you could see through her tough shell, and into the inside, you would see a cat jumping around in join at the moment.
Juniperpaw smiled back at him and mewed softly. "Thank you Duskstar." She had expected it to end at that, but he then jumped up the the highledge, and announced her idea to everyone. It was such a suprise, Juniperpaw actually smiled, and not just of acknoledgement or respect, it was an actual smile. Those didn't happen much with Juniperpaw. When she heard Duskstars comments, she spoke aloud, just loud enough for him to hear her over all the other cats.
"Thank you again Duskstar" she started off with. "I think it would be wise to take either Ivorymask, or go by myself. I do not say this because I don't believe in anyone else, but because if ValeClan sees a warrior, they might expect an ambush, but almost all of ValeClan knows that neither I, nor Ivorymask is a great fighter."
Juniperpaw concluded her sentence with a nod, and waited for her leaders reply.

"Almondpaw? What is this?" Ivorymask demanded, eyes widening as he watched the warrior stalk towards the apprentice den. Duskstar is crazy. That cat is going to claw my ears off, he thought angrily, ears flattening as he glared after the warrior. But he didn't speak up--this was Duskstar's decision, and it wasn't a matter between life and death, or anything.
At Duskstar's next words, Ivorymask nodded slightly. A medicine cat should go give a message, rather than a group of warriors. "I don't think it would be a good idea for both of us to go. If anything were to happen while we were gone, there would be no cat to heal any injuries," he mewed at Juniperpaw's suggestion. "It is true that a warrior would cause suspicion, but Juniperpaw should not go alone. Perhaps an apprentice, or young warrior, should accompany her."

`Vividpaw
Vividpaw hadn't really been paying attention to the whole meeting. Sure, she'd shown up, but her attention had soon been stolen by a white butterfly flitting through the camp. She'd listened to enough of what Duskstar said to know that it was about the flooding. She really didn't know what she wanted. A battle sounded like fun. She couldn't wait to try out her new moves on cats that weren't just going to pretend she was hurting them. And she didn't want to go hungry. Taking Pinestrip seemed like a good idea.
The rest of the meeting-including the fights, insults, and other things-went in one ear and out the other for Vividpaw as she watched the butterfly. She did notice a change in the mood of the meeting, and looked up just in time to hear Ivorymask's last comment. She saw the opportunity, and she seized it. "I'll go!!" She said, scrambling to her feet and looking between Ivorymask and Duskstar. "I can go with Juniperpaw! I've been training long enough to be able to get out of a sticky situation, but I still won't be suspicious to Valeclan!" Vividpaw sat down again, fidgetting with her tail, waiting to get permission to go with Juniperpaw. She hoped it would be granted. The apprentice couldn't wait to get out of camp and go somewhere.

"Makes sense to me," Ivorymask mewed, nodding to Vividpaw. "A full-grown warrior would cause suspicion, but perhaps not two apprentices." Standing up, he turned to face Juniperpaw and gave her a swift lick on the forehead--a rare sign of affection for him. She was his apprentice, after all. "Be careful. Do not mention anything about taking Pinestrip by force. Do not make them think we are willing to go so far. And do not let them know this lack of prey is weakening us--they might take advantage of it." He paused, glancing over at Duskstar and Ottersplash, wondering if the leader and deputy were going to be okay with this. To Ivorymask, it seemed like the best thing to be done. The Clan was too divided for any greater course to be taken.

Juniperpaw was proud of herself, it seemed like her clan liked the idea, and was accepting it. There would be room for peace afterall. She knew there would be some way that they wouldn't have to fight over everything, and she was glad that she had found it. What she wasn't glad about, was taking Vividpaw with her on the journey.
It wasn't that she didn't like her, well, no she didn't like her. But it wasn't all Vividpaws fault, they just had two complete opposite personalities. Complete. Opposite. Vividpaw was a carefree, slacker. She was almost never serious, and was never paying attention! It bugged Juniperpaw to the point of exploding, but she wasn't about to voice her oppinion on other cats. Her oppinion need not be heard. Instead, she chose to not ruin the entire journey.
"Alright, so it's settled." Juniperpaw said, to noone in particular. She scanned the crowd of cats once, and looked back at Ivorymask. "Take care of the clan while I'm gone. I will bring back a good supply of herbs on the way back." She nodded at her mentor, and jumped down from the medicine cats den they were sitting by. Taking a quick look around, she instantly spotted Vividpaw, it wasn't that hard. She bounded up to her, and looked her straight in the eye, all buissness.
"We better get moving, there isn't any time to waste."

`Vividpaw
When Ivorymask agreed that Vividpaw could go on the journey, she let out a small squeak. She jumped to her paws. "Thank you, Ivorymask!!" She said excitedly, and nodded hastily to him and then to Duskstar. She bounced up and down on her paws as she waited for Juniperpaw. When Juniperpaw came and looked into her eyes to speak, she did manage to calm herself a bit. 'We better get moving, there's no time to waste.' Vividpaw nodded. "All right, let's go!"
Vividpaw loped to the entrance to the camp, holding back from bounding the whole way there. She paused and looked back over shoulder to see if Juniperpaw was coming. "Goodbye, everyone!" She said to the cats in the clearing. She kneaded her paws into the ground in anticipation, hardly resisting the urge to stream out of camp and all the way to Valeclan's territory.
OOC: so...new thread, then?
