The grass was waving back and forth in the wind. The sun was beating down today and any cat out in the open surely felt the need to shake out of their fur. The only reprieve from the constant heat was the weak breeze that blew over the fields ever so often. And with those breezes brought something even more important than a few short cool moments. They brought the scent of prey.
And the fields were full of prey today. In the wind you could smell a slew of animals, from rabbits, to field mice every direction promised a meal of different meat. The cat that was hunting decided that today she was craving rabbit. She set off in the direction the scent led.
A few feet away she caught sight of a rabbit, She struck her pose and then launched after the rabbit. It was Neutral land after all this prey was everyone's. Goldenfeather was less than 2 feet when a crash to her right alarmed her She stopped and crouched low in the ground waiting to see what sound ad cost her, her afternoon snack.

A tortishell cat was padding along, it was the same path that she always had taken. But today, she didn't know why she had came. What was here for her, now? Would she find a new friend? A new enemy? Would she find Phoenixsong's terrible brother? Maybe, but it was unlikely. She crouched low, the grass tickling her fur, she let out a small 'mrr' in amusement, and froze. What was she doing? Being silly, that's what. Standing up, she continued along.
Her multicolored fur was feeling fine against the gentle breeze, she could stay here for a while and be perfectly content, but as we all know, that couldn't happen. She could hunt, but what good would that do? Multicolored eyes scanned the clearing, and they met another cat. Smiling, she called, "Hello!" Brokenrose, deputy of MireClan, waited for an answer.

A young warrior padded along, eyes narrowed as the sun scorched her calico-like tabby pelt. Ugh, why did it have to be so hot?! She couldn't understand it. Many of her clan mates liked this heat. In her opinion, if it weren't for the lack of prey, the bitter cold season that wracked the clans ever year was better. In fact, anything was better than this. Shaking her head, Cricketsong mumbled under her breath. Why was she even out here anyways? It wasn't as if the clan needed more food; other warriors earlier this morning had seen to that. Then, glancing down, she remembered. Oh yes. To get away from the streams that littered both camp and territory. She turned to follow a well-known trail, her paws following in the echo of countless FlurryClan cats that had come before her on the way to the Gathering. However, it was daylight, and no cat seemed to be around. But, wait, what was that? Parting her jaws, Cricketsong took a deep breath. Among the prey and heather smells, she could scent a pair of cats. Two she-cats, one of CascadeClan, the other of MireClan. Twitching her tail, the she-cat shuffled her paws. Should she join them? She wasn't that good with new cats; in fact, even half her clan didn't talk to her much because of her trust issues. But, as a dark loneliness filled her, she sighed. Might as well. She thought, hurrying down another rabbit trail towards the pair. Soon enough, she came into a clearing, stopping with a jolt. Who were these cats? She didn't recognize them at all. Swallowing, she cautiously flicked her tail as her green gaze looked between them. "Well....Hello." She meowed quietly.

The other cat said hello but Goldenfeather hadn't been expecting it and she nearly leapt a foot in the air in surprise. Once she had composed herself she looked over in the direction of the sound and her eyes found the sight of the other cat. The cats fur was many colors and it took Goldenfeather a mere few seconds to recognize the cat--It was the deputy of Mireclan. They had met a couple times at the gatherings as all the deputies sat together. She straightened herself up and padded over tot he other cat calmly. "Why hello Brackenrose, What brings you to the Crimson Meadows on this fine day?" She said calmly and politely enough but with goldenfeather you could never really know what she was thinking....
Suddenly another cat joined them. She didn't recognize this cat. It had tabby colored fur and a pleasant enough entrance. She nodded politely in the cats direction. "Why hello, I'm Goldenfeather deputy of Cascadeclan, and this is Brackenrose deputy of Mireclan. who pray tell may you be?" She asked curious to find out who the new cat was. From the scent she could tell that she was of Flurryclan.

Seeing another cat come, her smile faltered a bit, who knew all of these cats would come today? Why did they come? Were they doing the same as her, or...? Brokenrose laughed softly as Goldenfeather jumped in surprise, and nodded at her. "Oh, fine. Thank you. Yourself?" she asked, then looked over to the other cat. "And you?" she was determined not to make herself seem rude, or like a fool. What a terrible reputation! She noticed that she didn't recognize the other cat, and tilted her head.
Padding over to her, she noticed that Goldenfeather had introduced her. She was a bit annoyed by this, but said nothing. "Yes, that's right. Who might you be?" this FurryClan warrior was unknown to her, and it bothered her. She was a sociable cat, and not knowing ones name was rude in her opinion.

Cricketsong's eyes widened ever so slightly as the cat from CascadeClan leaped into the air with surprise. Suppressing a purr, the warrior realized that neither of them had expected to see any other soul on this sacred ground. Yet, it seemed to Cricketsong, that the idea of being alone had reached all three of their minds. As both were introduced as deputies of their clans, the warrior's eyes flashed. She herself had no such status, that was for sure. She was just a common warrior who did her best to serve her clan. Yet this did not make her any less than the other she-cats, and she did not wish to give them that assumption. Flicking her tail with unease as Brokenrose came closer, she studied the she-cat's fur. It was rare to find a cat with fur color that wasn't the same throughout. She herself knew that as well. Her gaze moving to focus on Goldenfeather, the she-cat dipped her head to both. They seemed like nice enough cats. Well, nice enough for now. Who knew what their intentions were? Sitting up straight, she looked rather rigid as she moved from looking from one to the other. Cold-natured at first, this first meeting was rather awkward for a cat such as her. "Hello. I'm Cricketsong of FlurryClan. Nice to meet you two." She meowed, dipping her head again to hide her unease that prickled her pelt.

"And to meet you as well" murmured Goldenfeather licking her paw absentmindedly. It was obvious no one planned to attack one another so why not settle down. After she had thoroughly cleaned both her paws and given her chest one or two licks she looked at the new cat. She hadn't met her before but then again she could have no been at the last few gatherings. Suddenly turning to Brackenrose she gave her an answer.
"All is well with me and my clan" She nodded approvingly. The smell of rabbit was still wafting through the air. She remembered the rabbit she had caught a couple feet back. "ermm..Hang on." She ran back and unearthered the rabbit and dragged it back to the group. The clan had enough prey they wouldn't begrudge her one rabbit. "care to share a snack?" she said kindly but her first ripping bite at the rabbit was the closest anyone could see a glimpse of the true nature of this deputy.

Cricketsong stared hungrily at the juicy rabbit that lay only a couple of mouselengths away. Her eyes blazing, she tensed, swiping her tongue around her maw. Oh, that rabbit looked so succulent; better than the scrawny ones that ran through her territory right now. Newleaf had begun, as well as the floods that ran through her territory every season. Some of their prey had already began to disappear, leaving the warriors frustrated and hungry. They had kits, queens, and elders to feed, and they always had trouble doing so. The tabby warrior hesitated before standing up and taking those precious few pawsteps forward. It can't hurt. I'm not hunting. She thought, looking around with unease. There was, of course, the factor to take in that she hadn't eaten this morning. Her stomach rumbled and she grimaced; this was hard. However, the fact stood that, whether anyone ever found out, she would feel guilty. So, reluctantly, the she-cat sat down with a sigh. "Thank you, but no thanks." She meowed, politely declining though her hunger protested.

Brokenrose smiled and nodded. "Why, thank you." she bent down and sniffed at the rabbit, cautiously, not wanting Goldenfeather to bite or nip at her. She nibbled a bit, and then looked at Cricketsong. "Why?" she asked, wondering why she would decline food. They weren't hunting, did she not trust them? Perhaps, and Brokenrose was a bit hurt by this, by the wouldn't tell.
She stopped looking at the rabbit, and then she looked around. She didn't know why, but she felt as if somebody was watching them... shivering, she turned back to the cats. "Do you feel like somebody's watchin'?"

Goldenfeather eyes flew over Cricketsong as she declined the food. Why would the cat decline a perfectly good rabbit? She was thinking very deeply now not listening too much to the outer conversation. Either she doesn't know that the fact she isn't on a hunting patrol means she can eat anything that she wants. Orr perhaps her clan was losing food and didn't want to eat while her clan mates starved? How valiant. Goldenfeather laughed a little in her head at the cats choice. Surely she could eat a little rabbit and not feel to guilty. Guilt ha! Goldenfeather had stopped feeling guilty a LONG time ago. She grunted before taking another bite of the rabbit. As she sat up with the juicy piece of meat gliding down her throat she studied the other cat with wide unblinking eyes. Brackenrose spoke bringing her back to reality.
"Not particularly" Goldenfeather mentioned although a prickle of unease that they were indeed being watched now spread over her ears and they flicked uncomfortably. " [/b]However, If we were being watched I would hope the cat would have sense enough to come greet us like any NORMAL warrior would.[/b]" She said the last part loud enough for any cat within a few feet to hear.[/blockquote][/size]

The tortoiseshell cat noticed her ears flick in unease, and soon hers did the same. Her jaws opened in a laugh, "I should hope they're normal!" she snickered, looking around for the source. It could always be some rabbit or mouse... but still, the feeling didn't raise. Getting up, she walked over to a a clump of grass in the bushes. Scenting a cat, her fur raised. "I can see you, now. Just come on, it's impolite to spy!"
She tried to drag the cat out, but it proved difficult. So she just sighed and sat down. "Fine, see if I care. How will your leader react to you spying, though?" she edged, her fur still raised.
