Standing, Fernpool nodded. “Sure, let’s bury this prey here and we can come back to get it later.” Putting a few leaves over her vole, Fernpool made sure it was hidden. She then flicked her tail in signal for Dawnpaw to follow, and began to pad down to the river. It was warm and sunny out and the part of the river to which Fernpool was leading Dawnpaw, was much calmer than that they had been to before in case the apprentice wanted to go swimming again. It was near the place that she had witnessed a mudslide with Mothpaw and Brackenfur but not close enough that Dawnpaw might get stuck in the mud.
When they arrived, Fernpool sat on a long, flat rock before stretching and lying down with her paws crossed again. The rock lay directly in the sin and the stone felt warm beneath her belly and Fernpool lay there. Looking around she breathed in the scents of the forest and smiled at her apprentice. It was a nice day to sit here and relax though she didn’t know how long she would be able to if Dawnpaw was here with her.

Dawnpaw buried her prey as Fernpool had ordered. She bounced with anticipation while her mentor was leading her to the river.... ~~~ Dawnpaw looked up to see Fernpool on a flat rock. She purred, That seems nice... Dawnpaw quickly searched for a Rock. She was a flat rock, close-by to Fernpool's, close to the edge of the river. Dangerous, But It'll do. She unseathed her claws, and ran to gain speed in order to jump. Dawnpaw graciously landed toward the edge of the rock, and she pulled herself up. She sheathed her claws, and lied down. "The waters calming, isn't it, Fernpool." she murmured.

Fernpool watched as her apprentice chose a rock and smiled again. “It is, Dawnpaw.” She replied. “Be careful on that edge though,” she added gently. Fernpool was about say something else when suddenly she caught a flash of orange out of the corner of her eye. Sitting up, she quickly scented the air nervously. FOX! Looking around, Fernpool noticed the flash of orange again and saw a pair of gleaming eyes watching the two cats -- mainly Dawnpaw.
“Dawnpaw, get up.” Fernpool whispered and locked her eyes on the patch of ferns where the fox hid. “Slowly, and calmly.” She continued whispering though the fur on her back was bristling and the medicine cat stood. What would she do if the fox attacked them? She was no warrior! Fernpool had stopped her warrior training only three moons after becoming an apprentice and switched to become a medicine cat! She had always been an amazing fighter, swift and fast but she couldn’t take down a fox!

"Alright Fern-" she stopped when Fernpool cut her off, She looked nervous. Why was that? Fernpool was hardly ever nervous... Get up slowly and calmly Dawnpaw repeated in her head. She got to get front paws, her back paws... Slowly, And Calmly, Slowly, Calmly. she repeated. What do I do? What if it's an enemy cat? What if it's a rouge? An attack from MireClan? No, they wouldn't Dare attack a medicine cat... But what if... Dawnpaw slowly turned her head toward where Fernpool was staring, she saw copper fur... NO! It's a Fox! Dawnpw snapped her head toward Fernpool, In the nursery, she had heard tales of Foxes attacking and Killing some of the Forest Greatest Warrior legends, some of the stories even bone-chilling enough to give all the kits nightmares.... "Fernpool," wimpered Dawnpaw, "What do we do?"

Fernpool nodded towards the apprentice keeping her gaze locked on the fox. “Go back to the camp and tell any warrior you can find. I’ll stay here in case it runs after you.” she said and unsheathed her claws. “Now!” she added.

Dawnpaw nodded quickly and ran off towads the CascadeClan camp, once and a while checking over her shoulder to see if the fox was running after her. She used her swift and fast running ability to run as quick as possible. As she was running her life, a pretty short life, flashed before her. ~~~~ "Look how sweet..." "What did you name them?" "I named the pure black one, Shadekit, I named the White one with dark brown spots, Lostkit, and I named the Brown tabby Dawnkit...." ~~~~~ "What is it Now Dawnkit?" "My mother, she she saying things in her sleep!" "Really? What did she say?" "The sun will rise, Dawn will awaken, and the stars shall rejoice...." ~~~~~ "Dawnkit, you are to be the next Medicine cat of CascadeClan, Good luck, young kit... ~~~~ Dawnpaw winced as each memory flashed by, and ending with an ancient echo. Tears fell out of her eyes as she ran, ran like she had never run before. She heard the blood pulsing in her ears, she also heard a soft murmuring in her ear... "My sweet kit... Good luck." "Mother!" she yowled as she ran. "Hehe! Good luck, Sis!" "Shadekit." "Good luck, sister." "Lostkit..." "We are proud of you, and we will always watch over you..." "Father, Flamefang." She ran into the Camp, Dawnkit yowled, "Quick!!! There's a fox on our territory, And it's about to attack Fernpool!!!"
OCC//((Dramatic, you wanted a long one :3 I thought that this would happen when a kit meets their first danger.)

Fernpool saw her apprentice run off from the corner of her eye and snapped her attention back to the fox. It was shifting in the bushes as Fernpool snarled obviously deciding if it ought to attack. Before Dawnpaw was completely out of sight though, it made up its mind and sprung from the bushes trying to streak towards the running kit. Fernpool yowled a warning to her apprentice and leapt onto the back of the fox. “Hurry Dawnpaw! And don’t leave camp no matter what!” she cried. Pinning down the beats as well as she could, Fernpool scratched at the sides of the fox and hoped against everything that a warrior would come soon.

Lightstep was just padding out of the apprentices den in her search for Hazelpaw but the naughty apprentice was nowhere in sight. Frowning, she padded towards Fernpool’s den to as her sister if she had seen the apprentice. “Fernpool?” she called into the empty den. There was no sight of Fernpool in the den and Lightstep shrugged to herself thinking her sister was probably out gathering herbs. She had just padded back to the apprentice’s den to double check when a kit skid into the camp looking frightened.
The young cat’s words rung in her head as Lightstep listened in shock. She, along with others, let out an angry yowl and quickly sprung over to the apprentice. “Fernpool?!” she demanded. “Where?! Can you take me?” Thoughts rung through Lightstep’s head as the she-cat thought about her sister lack in warrior training.a

"Yes!! Follow me!" Dawnpaw ran toward the camp entrance, and into the forest. "C'mon Lightstep, hurry!" she called. She turned her head over her shoulder and saw Lightstep running behind her. ((Not powerplaying I hope.)) ~~~~~ After about 5 minutes of running, which seemed like 5 moons, they were at the river. Dawnpaw looked around for Fernpool, then she saw copper under brown tabby. "There she is! Help her, Now!"

Fernpool saw a flash of color as the fox tried to run after Dawnpaw again but she quickly bit into its tail. With a hiss the fox rounded on her and bit a deep gash into Fernpool’s shoulder. Yowling in pain, the medicine cat stumbled backwards and faltered as the fox turned to overpower her. It leapt and Fernpool just managed to avoid it when something bit into her tail. Angrily, she spun and snatched it from between the teeth of the ugly orange creature.
Suddenly Fernpool noticed Dawnpaw come streaking into view. Yowling at her apprentice, Fernpool leapt away from the fox. “Dawnpaw! I told you not to return!” she exclaimed. Suddenly another warrior busts into the clearing at the side of the apprentice. “LIGHTSTEP!” Fernpool cried. The fox took advantage of her momentary distraction and leapt again.

Lightstep heard an echoing yowl and raced after Dawnpaw into the forest. Her heart beat sounded loudly in the eardrums of the anxious she-cat and seemed to power her paws to race by even faster. Then she caught scent of Fernpool and raced past Dawnpaw until she lost it again and let the apprentice lead.
Once they finally reached the area, Fernpool was tussling with a large orange fox. With a surprised yowl, Lightstep raced forward and leapt at the beast as it lunged for Fernpool again. Catching it in its tracks, she bit deep into the fox’s flank and it sprung angrily onto the now bristling angry warrior.
[No worries, you didn’t godmod me. Lightstep was following anyways. XD]

Fernpool yowled in alarm again as Lightstep broke into the battle and bit the fox from behind. Together, she knew they would be able to get rid of the fox.
Leaping at the creature once more, Fernpool slashed out with her front paws and swiped at the fox’s face. She made a deep gash across its nose and the fox let out an angry hiss. The fox was struggling to bite at both cats as they quarreled and meanwhile, Fernpool could feel the deep gash across her flank bleeding profoundly. She began to worry about Lightstep and Dawnpaw. If the fox didn’t flee soon, they would be tired out or killed and then it would leap onto the apprentice. Fernpool could faintly hear Dawnpaw calling out to her over the loud rustling and yowling of the fox and she opened her mouth to mew back and tell the apprentice to go to camp but the fox cut her off with a hard blow to the head. Then everything went black.

Lightstep saw her sister’s body go limp as the fox hit her hard across the head. Angrily she bit into the fox’s foreleg and it let out a loud hiss and snarl before turning tail and flying into the woods. Lightstep followed after it sniping at the heels of the bleeding creature until it disappeared into a large clump of ferns too thick for the wounded warrior to follow. Lightstep turned again and raced back to the area where she knew Fernpool lay.
Skidding to a stop by her sister’s side, she quickly lowered her nose and sniffed. Fernpool was still alive but wounded badly and unconscious. Snapping her head up, Lightstep turned to the apprentice and resisted the urge to glare. “You’re a medicine cat apprentice. What next?” she snapped.

"Fernpool!!" she yowled as the fox hit her across the head, she watched her fall and lie there, limp. Dawnpaw looked up to Lightstep. "Um... Uh, Oh Right! We need Cobwebs, Marigold...And..." Oh StarClan what was the last one!!!? "That's it! Feaverfew! And We need them Now." she meowed. "You stay here, make sure that she is still breathing, I'll Be right back." Dawnpaw ordered, already running toward the camp.~At Camp~ Dawnpaw ran into the medicine den, She grabbed the herbs. Ok, Cobwebs, Marigold,Feaverfew. Got it! She ran back toward the entrance, almost slipping on a rock.
~I'm There!~ "I Got them!" she called, setting the herbs down next to Fernpool's body. "Is she still breathing, is she okay, Did anything happen while I was gone?" Dawnpaw asked quickly, preparing the herbs.
